About JD
JD grew up in the thriving metropolis of Columbus, Ohio and moved to Austin, Texas in high school. His first experience with Camp Eagle was as a camper in the summer of 2010 when he began to take wilderness trips at Camp Eagle. JD became a wilderness guide at Glorieta Camps in 2015 as a result of experiencing who God is through a trip on the Pecos river. That time at Glorieta awakened in him a passion for ministry and discipleship through the context of the outdoors. JD graduated from THE Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Post college, he worked as a high school pastor in Austin and began to partner with Camp Eagle and Glorieta to take students on all kinds of wilderness trips. He moved to Camp Eagle in the fall of 2017 for a job in the Group Camp Program. Since then he’s been teaching English as a second language to Australians (Dave) and figuring out ways to care for and train our summer staff better. JD is passionate about catching every bass this side of the Rio Grande, well anywhere really, on a fly rod. He also loves sharing good times with friends paddling a river, rock climbing, and sharing a cup of joe in wild places. He is also good at all of those things!
